Annette Cole, a proud Sierra Leonean, a passionate advocate for the empowerment of Black women in Sydney.

 

A Government Lawyer by trade, Annette understands the challenges black women face in personal and professional spaces. Her experiences fuel her mission to equip women with the tools and networks they need to thrive. Since launching ABW, she has expanded its reach through strategic partnerships and advocacy.
Guided by her Christian faith, Annette is committed to fostering resilience, confidence, and success, ensuring that black women have the resources to reach their full potential.

Genille Gordon 

Director of Marketing and Communications

Genille, a proud Jamaican, is deeply committed to making a difference. Having spent eight years in Sydney, she has worked with migrants, refugees, and vulnerable communities while supporting global initiatives addressing homelessness.

With dual master’s degrees in International Communications and International Relations from Macquarie University, she combines academic expertise with hands-on nonprofit experience. Passionate about advocacy, she focuses on empowering communities and ensuring access to education and resources.

Beyond her work, Genille is a creative writer and spoken word poet who amplifies important issues through storytelling. Her ultimate vision is to help build schools and homes in marginalized communities, fostering education and self-sufficiency for future generations.

Sandra Kirimi

Treasurer

Sandra is a Kenyan born, Sydney-based stylist, content creator, and IT professional who seamlessly blends her expertise in ICT, marketing, and content writing to craft digital experiences that make an impact. With a passion for amplifying Black women’s voices, she works to create spaces that are stylish, inclusive, and engaging, all while bringing creativity and tech together in her unique approach.

Eureka Roy-Johnson

Secretary

Eureka, a proud Sierra Leonean, is a dedicated community pharmacist assistant with a strong passion for supporting people and communities, particularly those from diverse backgrounds and intersecting identities. Eureka is also deeply committed to social justice and global issues, focusing on the challenges and adversities that impact various groups across societies, especially the global Black community.

 

Currently in her final year of a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree, majoring in Sociology, Eureka also has a keen interest in marketing, public relations, and communications. Her mission is to raise awareness about Black history, culture, lineage, and the interconnectedness of all Black people in the diaspora. Eureka is particularly focused on the issues facing Black women, including colorism, texturism, featurism, misogynoir, and identity intersectionality.

Priscilla Dumbuya

Committee Member

 

Priscilla is of Sierra Leonean heritage and works in the community sector as a disability support worker. Priscilla is a fragrance enthusiast who enjoys engaging in meaningful conversations. She is deeply passionate about encouraging and uplifting others, especially within Black communities. Priscilla views Amplify Black Women as a powerful platform to strengthen and promote Black communities, particularly for women. She believes it offers a wonderful opportunity to build relationships, foster new friendships, and unite in support of one another.

Lily Komba 

Committee Member

Lily, a proud Sierra Leonean woman, is a dedicated youth worker and mental health advocate focused on supporting refugee orphaned children from Afghanistan. Her work centers on adolescent mental health, helping youth who’ve experienced war trauma build resilience.

With a degree in Health Science (Health Service Management & Health Promotion), Lily aims to establish a mental health institution in Sierra Leone to combat stigma and enhance support systems.

Committed to Amplify Black Women’s mission, she’s passionate about empowering Black women and advocating for mental health and resilience within the community.

Mariam Youssef

Mariam, of Egyptian heritage, is dedicated to empowering communities of color. With a background in law and psychology from the University of Wollongong, she's passionate about equity and helping Black African women in Sydney navigate financial systems and build mental resilience.

Her experience in dispute resolution and financial complaints highlights the importance of financial literacy for empowerment. Her psychology training also emphasizes the value of mental health support for community well-being.

Mariam values balance and connection, enjoying time with her husband exploring restaurants or relaxing with reality TV.

Her commitment to ABW is driven by her belief in diverse perspectives for meaningful change. She’s excited to contribute to events supporting Black African women’s financial independence, mental well-being, and personal growth.
